This is the radial menu that you see when right-clicking in Inventor. The contents of the menu depend on the type of file you have open (part, assembly, drawing, etc.), as well as whether or not you have a command active or anything selected. This offers me all of the tools I might need based on the context. For this reason, it is sometimes referred to as the context menu. The menu appears with the mouse pointer in the center of the radial top section, with the idea being that you can quickly select any of these tools by simply pointing the mouse at it and picking. But what if this menu doesn’t contain the tools you would like to see there? Why you simply change it, of course. As with context menus, the marking menu contains commands specific to the current task. For example, in the sketch environment, the marking menu provides sketch commands, such as Center Point Circle, Line, Two Point Rectangle, and Finish Sketch. A shortened context menu (sometimes called an overflow menu) appears either above or below the marking menu, depending on the cursor position in the graphics window. To help flatten out the learning curve of such a big product, there's the familiar “Auto Pilot” switch on the main interface. When on, which it is by default, Bitdefender uses sensible settings for all modules. The main interface itself has also had an overhaul and feels a lot busier than last year.

Hackers Exploit 'Telegram Messenger' Zero-Day Flaw to Spread Malware

A zero-day vulnerability has been discovered in the desktop version for end-to-end encrypted Telegram messaging app that was being exploited in the wild in order to spread malware that mines cryptocurrencies such as Monero and ZCash.

The Telegram vulnerability was uncovered by security researcher Alexey Firsh from Kaspersky Lab last October and affects only the Windows client of Telegram messaging software.

The flaw has actively been exploited in the wild since at least March 2017 by attackers who tricked victims into downloading malicious software onto their PCs that used their CPU power to mine cryptocurrencies or serve as a backdoor for attackers to remotely control the affected machine, according to a blogpost on Securelist.

Here's How Telegram Vulnerability Works

The vulnerability resides in the way Telegram Windows client handles the RLO (right-to-left override) Unicode character (U+202E), which is used for coding languages that are written from right to left, like Arabic or Hebrew.

According to Kaspersky Lab, the malware creators used a hidden RLO Unicode character in the file name that reversed the order of the characters, thus renaming the file itself, and send it to Telegram users.

For example, when an attacker sends a file named "photo_high_re*U+202E*gnp.js" in a message to a Telegram user, the file's name rendered on the users' screen flipping the last part.

Therefore, the Telegram user will see an incoming PNG image file (as shown in the below image) instead of a JavaScript file, misleading into downloading malicious files disguised as the image.

"As a result, users downloaded hidden malware which was then installed on their computers," Kaspersky says in its press release published today.

Kaspersky Lab reported the vulnerability to Telegram and the company has since patched the vulnerability in its products, as the Russian security firm said: "at the time of publication, the zero-day flaw has not since been observed in messenger's products."

Hackers Used Telegram to Infect PCs with Cryptocurrency Miners

  During the analysis, Kaspersky researchers found several scenarios of zero-day exploitation in the wild by threat actors. Primarily, the flaw was actively exploited to deliver cryptocurrency mining malware, which uses the victim's PC computing power to mine different types of cryptocurrency including Monero, Zcash, Fantomcoin, and others.

While analyzing the servers of malicious actors, the researchers also found archives containing a Telegram's local cache that had been stolen from victims.

In another case, cybercriminals successfully exploited the vulnerability to install a backdoor trojan that used the Telegram API as a command and control protocol, allowing hackers to gain remote access to the victim’s computer.

"After installation, it started to operate in a silent mode, which allowed the threat actor to remain unnoticed in the network and execute different commands including the further installation of spyware tools," the firm added.

Firsh believes the zero-day vulnerability was exploited only by Russian cybercriminals, as "all the exploitation cases that [the researchers] detected occurring in Russia," and a lot of artifacts pointed towards Russian cybercriminals.

The best way to protect yourself from such attacks is not to download or open files from unknown or untrusted sources.

The security firm also recommended users to avoid sharing any sensitive personal information in messaging apps and make sure to have a good antivirus software from reliable company installed on your systems.

Meltdown/Specter-based Malware Coming Soon to Devices Near You, Are You Ready?

It has been few weeks since the details of the Spectre, and Meltdown processor vulnerabilities came out in public and researchers have discovered more than 130 malware samples trying to exploit these chip flaws.

Spectre and Meltdown are security vulnerabilities disclosed by security researchers earlier this month in many processors from Intel, ARM and AMD used in modern PCs, servers and smartphones, among other devices.

These CPU vulnerabilities could enable attackers to bypass memory isolation mechanisms and access everything, including memory allocated for the kernel containing sensitive data like passwords, encryption keys and other private information.

Researchers from independent antivirus testing firm AV-TEST detected at least 139 malware samples, as of today, which are related to these CPU vulnerabilities, as shown in the growth graph.

Meanwhile, cybersecurity firm Fortinet also tracked and analyzed many malware samples 'trying to exploit' recently disclosed CPU vulnerabilities, most of which includes re-compiled or extended version of the JavaScript-based proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit released last month.

"The rate at which the cybercriminal community is targeting known vulnerabilities is clearly accelerating, with the WannaCry and NotPetya exploits serving as perfect examples of the need to patch vulnerable systems as soon as possible," Fortinet said.

"Which is why our concerns were raised when we recently learned about some of the largest vulnerabilities ever reported—ones that affect virtually every processor developed since 1995 by chip manufacturers Intel, AMD, and ARM."

Another news makes this situation, even more, worse—Intel halted all its CPU firmware patches for the Meltdown and Spectre flaws last week after it caused issues like spontaneous reboots and other 'unpredictable' system behaviour on affected PCs.

So, until Intel and other vendors do not come up with stable security patches for the Meltdown and Spectre attacks that don’t cause systems to break, users are recommended to keep their operating system, web browsers, antivirus and other software up-to-date.

Constraints are automatically applied as you sketch. The constraint symbol on the cursor shows the constraint type. Constraints prevent unwanted changes to a feature when dimensions are changed or referenced geometry is moved.

You can add or edit constraints and dimensions to control sketch shape and size. Before you add constraints, study your sketch to decide which are needed. In a 2D sketch, display the Degrees of Freedom glyphs to determine which geometry is unconstrained, partially constrained, or fully constrained.

2D and 3D sketch geometry to include in constraint

In addition to geometry, you create in the sketch, you can select visible model edges and vertices for inclusion in a constraint. You can select a point at the virtual intersection of sketch elements.

In 2D sketches, the selected curves and vertices are automatically projected onto the sketch plane. Alternatively, you can select geometry and use Project Geometry to project it onto the sketch plane before applying constraints.

1) Use inferred constraints to position geometry as you sketch. When a sketch command is active, move the cursor to show constraint symbols that indicate relationships to existing geometry. For example, a parallel constraint symbol appears when the new line is parallel to an existing line.
2) Brush the cursor along the line or curve you want to constrain to, then move the cursor into the approximate position. In cases where more than one constraint is possible, this technique overrides a default constraint in favor of the constraint you selected.
3) The order in which geometry is selected does not affect the results of a constraint operation. However, the presence of other constraints can affect further constraint application. Geometry with fewer constraints is repositioned or resized. If a constraint cannot be applied, a warning dialog box is displayed.
4) Constrain to an existing model or sketch geometry.

Heat Map Released by Fitness Tracker Reveals Location of Secret Military Bases

Every one of us now has at least one internet-connected smart device, which makes this question even more prominent —how much does your smart device know about you?

Over the weekend, the popular fitness tracking app Strava proudly published a "2017 heat map" showing activities from its users around the world, but unfortunately, the map revealed what it shouldn't—locations of the United States military bases worldwide.

Strava which markets itself as a "social-networking app for athletes" publicly made available the global heat map, showing the location of all the rides, runs, swims, and downhills taken by its users, as collected by their smartphones and wearable devices like Fitbit.

Since Strava has been designed to track users’ routes and locations, IUCA analyst Nathan Ruser revealed that the app might have unintentionally mapped out the location of some of the military forces around the world, especially some secret ones from the United States.

With a total of one billion activities logged on the Strava's activity map, it is a whole lot of useful data from all over the world.

Although Strava's publicly available activity map was live as of November 2017, Ruser recently noticed that the map includes the fitness routes of army soldiers and agents in secret base locations, including U.S. military bases in Afghanistan and Syria, a suspected CIA base in Somalia and even Area 51.

Besides American military bases, the map also revealed the UK's RAF Mount Pleasant airbase in the Falkland Islands, Lake Macphee and Gull Island Pond, among others. Russian bases have also been showed up by the Strava data.

What's more? Security experts on Twitter have also discovered potentially sensitive American military bases in Somalia, Afghanistan and Syria; secret Russian military bases in Ukraine; a secret missile base in Taiwan, as well as an NSA base in Hawaii.

Ruser said that the map allowed him to find out regular jogging routes for military personnel, which is bad news for security, as it establishes reliable "pattern of life" information that would otherwise be secret from the rest of the world.

"If soldiers use the app like normal people do, by turning it on tracking when they go to do exercise, it could be especially dangerous. This particular track looks like it logs a regular jogging route. I shouldn't be able to establish any Pattern of life info from this far away," Ruser tweeted.

Should Strava be blamed entirely for this revelation?

Strava said its heat map is based only on publically available data, and the company does offer a private mode that allows its users to turn off data sharing outside of the app.

However, it appears that many American and foreign military personnel using the app were sharing the confidential information publicly—perhaps without the knowledge or realising the implication, which is terrible.

What's even worse?

A security researcher told the Washington Post that this publically available data could even help enemy forces plan an "attack or ambush U.S. troops in or around the bases."

To make things even worse, some experts have also found ways to deanonymize the Strava heatmap, identifying individuals and their location where they have been exercising.

Strava has reminded its users that they could turn off location services for the app and that the map does not include private activities or areas deemed private.

"Our global heat map represents an aggregated and anonymised view of over a billion activities uploaded to our platform," Strava said in a statement. "It excludes activities that have been marked as private and user-defined privacy zones. We are committed to helping people better understand our settings to give them control over what they share."

The incident is a great reminder for people, especially for those working in or around sensitive locations, to turn off location sharing services for everything.

Moreover, militaries should also consider limiting smartphones and wearables use in sensitive areas as well as educate their soldiers on the importance of privacy.

OnePlus confirms up to 40,000 customers affected by Credit Card Breach

OnePlus has finally confirmed that its online payment system was breached, following several complaints of fraudulent credit card transactions from its customers who made purchases on the company's official website.
In a statement released today, Chinese smartphone manufacturer admitted that credit card information belonging to up to 40,000 customers was stolen by an unknown hacker between mid-November 2017 and January 11, 2018.
According to the company, the attacker targeted one of its systems and injected a malicious script into the payment page code in an effort to sniff out credit card information while it was being entered by the users on the site for making payments.
The malicious script was able to capture full credit card information, including their card numbers, expiry dates, and security codes, directly from a customer’s browser window.

"The malicious script operated intermittently, capturing and sending data directly from the user's browser. It has since been eliminated," OnePlus said on its official forum. "We have quarantined the infected server and reinforced all relevant system structures."

However, the company believes users who shopped on its website using their saved credit card, PayPal account or the "Credit Card via PayPal" method are not affected by the breach.

OnePlus is still investigating the incident and committed to conducting an in-depth security audit to identify how hackers successfully managed to inject the malicious script into its servers.

Meanwhile, credit card payments will remain disabled on the OnePlus.net store until the investigation is complete as a precaution, though users can make purchases through PayPal.

  "We are eternally grateful to have such a vigilant and informed the community, and it pains us to let you down. We are in contact with potentially affected customers. We are working with our providers and local authorities to address the incident better," OnePlus says.

OnePlus is notifying all possibly affected OnePlus customers via an email and advises them to keep a close eye on their bank account statements for any fraudulent charges or look into cancelling their payment card.

The company is also looking into offering a one-year subscription of credit monitoring service for free to all affected customers.
